Peachy Keen Creations
Charleston native Margot Keen creates stunning handcrafted jewelry pieces with a purpose.
How did you come up with your brand name?
My name Peachy Keen comes from a childhood nickname. When playing Mario Party, my character of choice was always Princess Peach. My friends started calling me Peachy and my last name is Keen. Years later when I was choosing a name for my jewelry line I decided Peachy Keen was a perfect fit because it goes with the theme of my vision. I write the positive intention of each stone on the inside of each tag. My tag line is ‘Pieces with Purpose’ because I want my jewelry to empower the wearer and bring peace, prosperity, positivity and peace.
What was the first thing you made?
The first thing I made with wire was in a Sculpture I class in college. I made a random sculpture that was useless but I had a great time making it.
If you won the lottery what would you do with the money?
I would travel the world and use the money for random acts of kindness.
Who are your favorite artists/makers?
This is always changing. I participate in the Charleston Night Market which is all handmade and local and I love the artists and crafters there. I also really appreciate Van Gogh and the Impressionism movement. I also really admire architecture in general, I think it’s an incredible and special form of art and sculpture and isn’t always thought of that way.
What song/artist is #1 on your playlist?
This always changes for me but right now I am super into the band Bear Hands.
